Boneyards

R2,500.00
Quick Overview

By Janneman

Just above Supers lies Boneyards. This is usually a bigger wave, and more crunching, thus the name boneyards. The rides are not as long as Supers but there are good barrels to be had breaking left and right.

Printed on 290 gsm, 60% hemp fibre, 40% cotton white paper.

Size: 50 x 50cm

This specific Hemp paper uses one of the oldest and most diverse natural fibres in the world and is made of 60% hemp fibre. The FineArt inkjet paper’s base impresses with its bright white natural tone, and thanks to the bright white colour of the hemp fibres, no optical brighteners are required. The lightly textured surface gives the paper a pleasant, silky feel. Combined with the matt premium inkjet coating, this is a truly versatile FineArt inkjet paper. Colours and details are brilliantly reproduced, the depth of the black truly stands out and contrasts are reproduced with stunning effect. The acid- and lignin-free FineArt inkjet paper meets the most exacting requirements for age resistance. Hemp was an essential part of paper production for centuries, and due to its extremely robust fibres, it has often been used for long-lasting historical documents, such as the Gutenberg Bible and the US Declaration of Independence.

Quick Overview

By Matthew Prins

Printed on 290 gsm, 60% hemp fiber, 40% cotton white paper.

Size: 37.5cm W x 50cm H

Matthew Prins currently works as a Graphic Designer in Cape Town. His turn to art production is marked by a meticulous, introspective meditation of his subject matter. He is inspired by textile designs, particularly those of Austrian architect, Josef Frank. His works reflect a sophisticated understanding of shape, colour and composition such that their simplicity belies a skilful draftsmanship and acute design aesthetic.

Through the Walls artwork is based on a photograph taken at the Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh. During lockdown Prins was inspired to paint the piece after listening to the album Through the Walls by Who Made Who. It was during this time that he contemplated a world uninhabited by humans, where the natural world quietly reclaims our domestic spaces and restores balance to the environment.

This specific Hemp paper uses one of the oldest and most diverse natural fibers in the world. The FineArt inkjet paper’s base impresses with its bright white natural tone. Big, bold and brave. This can be said for the man who paddles out at death-defying Dungeons. From the backline; a sweeping view across Hout Bay and the back of our beloved Table Mountain could distract one from the thundering walls of water. But not for long, this wave deserves ones full attention.

Quick Overview

By Janneman

Carpobrotus edulis, although indigenous to South Africa, is an introduced species to many parts of the world and has lots of different common names here and all over the globe ~ ghaukum (SA), goenavy (SA), suurvy (SA), pigface (Australia), iceplant (UK), balsamo (Spain), choroes (Portuguese), figue marine (France) Sea fig (US)

The big beautiful mesembryanthemum flower that opens up with the midday sun produces a fat little fruit, filled with a juicy seed paste. As the fruit matures, so does the flavour - turning into the most indescribable sour salty, tamarind-like umami flavour that leaves you reeling.
